Adelantech Leadership Program Prepares Rural Students for Innovation Economy

Farmworks and rural students to “get personal” with UFW and AT&T executives during Adelantech Leadership Program

New STEM and leadership program prepares rural students for innovation economy

A motivated group of California farmworkers and their adult children will meet and interview United Farm Workers (UFW) President Arturo Rodriguez and AT&T California President Ken McNeely about their personal careers and life experiences as part of the AdelanTECH Leadership Program. This new STEM education and leadership initiative helps bridge the gap between high-tech jobs and rural students underrepresented in STEM industries. Nearly halfway through the pilot program – which blends 10+ months of in-person leadership training from CORO with an online Nanodegree from Udacity – media are invited to observe this session and speak with program creators and participants about their experience preparing for a career “off the fields.”
