JohnRyan Inc., a Minneapolis, London, and Madrid-based retail technology company that develops multimedia and interactive technology for point-of-sale marketing and digital signage systems for leading retail banks, has leased space at the Enterprise Technology Centre — the former Borland building — in Scotts Valley. The company is actively recruiting additional software, quality assurance and product management talent.
The company recently leased 2,200 square feet in the 381,000-square foot building. Designed by Kevin Roche, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect, the complex includes seven buildings and is known for world-class amenities, including a swimming pool as well as basketball and tennis courts.
“There’s an abundance of technical talent in the Santa Cruz area that we’d like to tap into. Real estate decisions are human-resources decisions,” said Joe Donovan, Head of Product Development. “We’re actively focusing on recruitment and when you’re trying to hire extremely talented people, location and quality of life matters. The Enterprise Tech Centre is a perfect location for us because we wanted a world-class space to attract world class product and engineering talent.”
Donovan will oversee ongoing development, operations and recruiting. Previously, he was an engineering leader at Yahoo! where he built and oversaw multiple engineering teams (front-end, middle-tier, and back-end) to create and maintain market-leading products such as Yahoo News, Yahoo Local, and Yahoo Travel.
