EDWARDS’s life is simple: What’s the best way to get from point A to point B?

EDWARD — short for electronically driven wireless autonomous roving droid — is an autonomous robot built to navigate mazes, said Gabriel Damon, creator and a 15-year-old Santa Cruz High School freshman.

The robot was a culmination of the teen’s interest in robots and an eighth-grade project he was tasked with at the Santa Cruz Waldorf School.

Gabriel plans to showcase the robot this weekend at the Maker Faire Bay Area in San Mateo, where people showcase an array of projects such as statues of dragons that breathe fire, innovative mechanical vehicles, interesting art work and, of course, robots.
