“Our goal is to not only foster short-term projects, but long-term collaborations.”

This year, CruzHacks is providing an opportunity for social good organizations to present challenges they face to teams of students to work on during the hackathon!

The Tech4Good Lab at UCSC is partnering with CruzHacks to more closely connect the campus to social good organizations, and to guide the upcoming annual hackathon towards greater support of social innovation.

If you represent a nonprofit, community, government, or public benefit organization, and would like to connect with the campus in either the short-term or longer-term, fill out this form to let us know how we can better engage with and partner with you.

We’re looking for social good representatives who are interested in (1) pitching a problem or potential project area to students during team formation on Friday, January 18 @ 8pm, and/or (2) who are available to be a social good mentor on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

Our goal is to not only foster short-term projects, but long-term collaborations. The Tech4Good Lab will be organizing the data you provide through the above form into a dataset that can continue to spark conversations and collaborations between UCSC and social good organizations after the hackathon and for years to come.

CruzHacks (cruzhacks.com) is UC Santa Cruz’s annual non-profit, student-run hackathon and will take place January 18-20, 2019. Over the course of the weekend, 600 students from over 25 universities will come together to learn, network, and build. The event brings together a diverse and talented group of students who compete to develop innovative solutions and to solve real world challenges, including for local organizations like yours!

The Tech4Good Lab (tech4good.soe.ucsc.edu) is a social computing research lab at UC Santa Cruz directed by Assistant Professor David Lee focused on developing technology to support non-profit, community, and government organizations. It is currently focused on supporting large-scale collaboration and engagement within a community, and providing greater access to experiential learning and entrepreneurial thinking.
