Startup Investment and Community Capital Expo return Oct 30

On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the College of Business at CSUMB, will host the second annual Startup Investment and Community Capital Expo.

The event features a keynote talk by Doug Erickson on Zentrepreneurship; panels on emerging opportunities in the Ag Supply Chain and Sustainable Hospitality, Eco-recreation and Wellness; panels on Community Capital Sources and pitches for Community Capital projects; and company pitches to a select panel of Angel, Community Capital, Crowdfunding, and Venture investors.
The morning program will be capped by a lunch keynote by Bethany Mayer, former CEO of Ixia and Senior Partner of Siris Capital. In the afternoon, the Chamber will be continuing the day with the Business Solutions Expo.
The goals of the morning event are to:
  • Inspire, celebrate, and accelerate entrepreneurship, business startups and local business and investment in the Monterey Bay community and the Tri-County region
  •  Identify existing and new opportunities for customer, market and community diversification and growth
  • Provide opportunities for Monterey Bay area businesses to understand “next practice” sustainable business practices, new customer segments, local funding sources, and community investment opportunities
  • Celebrate and honor entrepreneurship as a core Monterey Bay and Tri-County region value and an important source of competitive and community advantage 
  • Inspire and empower an ever-greater diversity of communities and individuals to build sustainable companies and organizations

The event caps the annual cycle of entrepreneurship events held by the iiED at CSUMB, which begins with the Startup Hackathon, continues with the Startup Weekend, feeds into the Startup Challenge new venture competition, and closes with the Startup Investment and Community Capital Expo.
