Student organizers seek community participation for January 2018 event

Recently rebranded, CruzHacks (previously HackUCSC) is now open to sponsorship for the 2018 annual Hackathon. Entering its 5th year of operation, CruzHacks expects to draw more applicants this year than in years prior. This is an entirely student-run, non-profit collegiate hackathon, and one of the largest to be organized in California. CruzHacks offers the ideal environment for high school and college students to explore their talents and visions for social change through an immersive weekend of technology development. Join us January 19-21, 2018 in the Porter Dining Hall on the UCSC campus.

Our goal as an organization is to provide the optimal setting for diverse students to work towards actualizing the ideas they are most passionate about. CruzHacks aims to promote the development of technological solutions to societal issues at both local and global levels. Each year, vital connections are formed between students and local businesses, and we actively encourage the participation of a wide range of community members, be they UCSC students or otherwise. The CruzHacks team hopes to see these broad connections evolve into a network of community members that utilize technology to lay the groundwork for a more creative and connected world.

Seeking sponsors

Last year, with 700+ attendees, 100+ total projects, and over 15 nationalities represented, CruzHacks demonstrated our diverse community is more than willing to explore, develop, and innovate, none of which would be possible without the support of our sponsors. Successful businesses today thrive on technological innovation, and sponsoring CruzHacks provides your business with the prime opportunity to observe, meet, and recruit budding developers who will bring new ideas and hard skills to your company.

Sponsorship is also a great way to expose your brand to our attendees, media staff, and organizers. With the opportunity to supply merchandise, table, and have recruiters present, your business will draw interest and enthusiasm from a myriad of students who may share your vision, be it for a product or concept. Sponsoring CruzHacks is also the ideal space to expose your product or API to student creators who could utilize it in their technological projects and offer feedback.

With four sponsorship tiers (kilo, mega, giga, and tera), we are confident CruzHacks has an opportunity that perfectly matches every sponsor’s interests, from having your logo on our website or T-shirts to hosting workshops or judging the projects. For more information, visit http://www.cruzhacks.com or contact Anjali Kanthilal at akanthil@ucsc.edu. Our team is happy to work with you to develop a custom plan ensuring your company can benefit from CruzHacks to the fullest extent.
