Santa Cruz County is pleased to announce the completion of its Office for Economic Development, a newly created division that reports directly to the County Administrative Office. The office is headed by Economic Development Manager Kenneth “Andy” Constable, and includes Economic Development Coordinators Barbara Mason and Peter Detlefs.

Formerly the City of San Jose’s Real Estate Division Manager, Mr. Constable brings a familiarity with the private sector, commercial real estate and economic development programs to the job. Ms. Mason, who helped shepherd the County’s Economic Vitality Strategy to fruition, is a former state director of the California Main Street Program and an expert on local businesses and helping small businesses grow.

Mr. Detlefs is the newest addition to the team, bringing extensive knowledge and experience in public finance. He served previously as an analyst in the County Administrative Office, and has worked as an analyst for a national retail site selection consulting firm, a project manager for a consulting firm specializing in financial and economic analysis for public agencies throughout the State of California and as the Debt Administrator for the City of San Jose, where he managed financing of the City’s capital facilities.

Collectively, the team will help create a more sustainable local economy that includes economic opportunities consistent with the strength and character of the Santa Cruz County community.
