Defense Incubator Reaching out to Monterey Bay Tech Innovators

(Contributed)

November 17, 2015 — Monterey, CA

A Defense Incubator is on a mission to build tech relationships and partnerships with innovators in the tech industry, including those that don’t always work with the Department of Defense.

The Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx) is a military organization that aims to support the innovation and disruptive technology that sustains and extends U.S. strategic advantage in defense.

Admiral Hendrickson, guest speaker at a dinner in Monterey on December 4, will be talking about opportunities for start-ups in high technology with DIUx.

“We want to partner with businesses on everything from autonomy to robotics to biomedical to engineering; from power, energy and propulsion to distributed systems, data science and the Internet of things… if we are going to leverage these technologies to defend our country and help make a better world, the DoD cannot do everything in all of these areas alone.” — Secretary of Defense Ash Carter

Lawrence Reeves, President of the Monterey Bay Chapter of AFCEA International, an organization that bring government and industry together, wants to encourage startups that may wish to offer their entrepreneurial concepts for national security solutions to learn more about opportunities at DIUx by attending the December 4 dinner.

Reeves adds, “Those who sign up for the dinner will be granted ‘base access’ at the gate and can come early in the afternoon to hear special presentations, 2-5pm, organized by my well known colleagues John Arquilla and Peter Denning.” Panelists will be faculty members and graduate students.
