October 21, 2015 — Santa Cruz, CA

The County of Santa Cruz is pleased to announce the hiring Kenneth “Andy” Constable as its new Economic Development Manager.

Currently the City of San Jose’s Real Estate Development Manager, Mr. Constable brings a wealth of experience in real estate development, developing business opportunities, marketing and negotiating commercial lease and sale agreements, and working with communities to assure projects meet the goals of local government and the community.

“I’m honored to be Santa Cruz County’s first Economic Development Manager,” Mr. Constable said. “Santa Cruz County is a special place with unique economic development opportunities. I look forward to meeting the challenges and furthering the implementation of the County’s Economic Development Vision and Strategy, including the key priorities identified by the County Board of Supervisors.”

Mr. Constable will head a newly created division that reports directly to the County Administrative Office. It is tasked with servicing existing businesses, creating jobs and increasing the county’s tax base.

“I am pleased to have Mr. Constable aboard,” Ms. Mauriello said. “The county has numerous opportunities in the years ahead, and Andy is the perfect candidate to help us navigate toward a more sustainable economy that works for local residents, provides for economic opportunity and supports the strength and character of our community.”

As San Jose’s Real Estate Development Manager, Mr. Constable helped attract private development to the downtown area, helped implement the City’s retail strategy, and worked with neighboring governments to coordinate economic development.

Mr. Constable also has extensive experience in the private sector, and will bring a data- driven background and a familiarity with state economic development programs to the job. In his role, he expects to balance the need for development with County goals, values and objectives.

He will also further the County’s implementation of its Economic Development Vision and Strategy, which was approved by the Board of Supervisors in November 2014.

Mr. Constable is a licensed real estate broker and has a degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University.

His salary will be $141,190.
