Gartner recommends that perspective companies should investigate Cool Vendors to identify possible solutions to business problems or potential areas for business transformation.
In the report, Gartner notes: “The analytics market continues to diversify, with a variety of emerging vendors targeting increasingly specific problems that organizations possess. The analytics market continues to be one that readily lends itself to innovation, and the growing demand for analytic capability across all parts of organizations creates a growing opportunity for vendors to offer compelling new solutions.”
“We’re honored to be recognized as a Gartner Cool Vendor in Analytics,” said Frank Bien, CEO of Looker. “We believe this underscores the value Looker brings in delivering data access to the entire organization.”
Looker is a new BI platform that unlocks the value in large, complex datasets by connecting directly to the database (without moving data), providing a modeling layer to describe the data rapidly and flexibly, and enabling data teams to curate a single, reliable lens into the full dataset for business users to explore through a web interface. The result is a major shift in culture where data is more widely used to make better decisions.
Looker experienced 400 percent growth in 2014 and now boasts more than 300 of the brightest and most data-driven companies as customers, including Sony, Yahoo!, Asana, Docker, Gilt, Instacart, Upworthy, Venmo and Warby Parker. The company recently closed a Series B funding round, placing the total at $48 million to date.
“Looker enables employees from all departments and business units to explore data, uncover new insights, accelerate innovation and grow their businesses,” added Bien. “As the only true BI solution on the 2015 list of Cool Vendors in Analytics, Looker is on the path to further distinguish itself as one of the fastest growing SaaS companies in this highly competitive space.”
