Monarch Media Case Study: Digital STEAM Workshop

(contributed)

Using Agile Methodology to Redesign an Educational Content Delivery Platform

Monarch Media partnered with Autodesk, Inc. last year to take an Agile approach to redesigning monarchthe company’s Digital STEAM Workshop, an interactive website aimed at providing students with resources to help them master science, technology, engineering, arts, and math skills.

The primary goal was to make the Digital STEAM Workshop more accessible to students by tailoring the user experience (UX) with clear steps, a modern palate, and friendly imagery.

Monarch Media describes the approach and results in this case study.

Agile is a software development methodology known for allowing ultra-fast turnaround. Monarch Media believes in Agile done right, which means ongoing dialogue with our clients. This approach brings laser focus to the goals at stake, so that development effort can be applied with maximum precision. The flexibility that Agile allows is especially essential when a client begins development with a general idea of what they want, but not necessarily an itemized specification.

Big Results

Although the initial redesign was completed in just six weeks, the new Digital STEAM Workshop has been integrated into the Design the Future campaign as a supporting learning resource for President Obama’s ConnectED Initiative. The site traffic increased by 100% in the initial 6 months, reaching more than 13,000 users in one quarter.

The collaboration between Monarch Media and Autodesk continues, as the site and its capabilities expand.
